Name Changes. What you need to do before changing your name.
(Taken from a response I made to a comment in the subreddit)
Name changes are new ground for me. The plugin that manages locks on your chests, furnaces, and doors handles locks on a name basis as far as I am concerned. I know that as of 1.7 Mojang made the switch from usernames to users IDs which I guess was probably prep for this name changing stuff. But as far as I know, LWC locks your chests based on a username. In the mean time here is what I suggest to users who wish to go through with a name change.
Add your new username to the chests yourself. This means pick your name prior and type (/cmodify thenewname) and hit all your chests
Pro Tip: This can be made easier by typing (/cmodify thenewname) and then typing (/lwc mode persist on) by typing that command your last command is bound to your fists, this means anything you punch will be hit with that command. When done just type (/lwc mode persist off) and carry on with the switch.

Due to an “attack” my server provider has null routed BuildByLight for 4 hours. Which means that no one will be able to access the server for a bit. The server will be open again at 9PM EST. Thank you for your patience.

Hey BBL! Our first contest kicks off today 1/19/15, the theme is FreeBuild. You get assigned a plot and can build whatever you want, the top 5 winners will be selected and moved to spawn on 2/19/15. Enjoy!
Donators the True Light Bringers
I would just like to take the time to acknowledge how far we have come in less than 1 month. I started us up after some hard experiences off loss and sadness, but we overcame and conquered. I posted that if I started us up I would need help to keep us going. I have seen that help in so many shapes and forms and I just want to say thank you!
DBSPS your donation was more than anything I could have ever asked for. Thanks to you I can upgrade us to more RAM and pay us out for a whole year. This is so much more than I could have ever even thought of obtaining through donations. Thank you!

A Server Will Rise
For those who may not know BuildByLight was founded by Quetz and I, Crazedrage103. Quetz was the funds provider while I set up the server, and handled plugins exc. Quetz suddenly disappeared towards the end our 6 month subscription. During this time he had talked about renewing the server if the community came back, after our brief lack of interest from the community in minecraft after the bukkit ordeal. Everyone came back for the most part. He then stated he would pay for another bout of the server. He disappeared, and failed to provide funds for another round. So, to my dismay, he didn’t tell me he was done, and we lost all the old server files. I have since taken it upon myself to carry on the BBL name on a different server provider. I am going to need help here, and will be opening the server to donations after the new year. If I get 15 people to chip in 14 dollars I can have 15 months of this server paid off. That would be amazing. I believe that I have a lot of good people in this community that would like to see it live on. I’m hoping that when I open us up to donations I will receive enough or else I wont be able to provide you with the minecraft experience you adore. Special thanks to FO3 for buying the old server domain while I was looking for answers involving the strange occurrences. By doing so he provided a server for me to meet with the community, and he will be taking it down now that the new server is up and running. Enjoy!

Unfortunately all users will have to start over. I added a few new ranks, (see ranks tab above) and all players will have to be assigned the rank player and rank up as they did before.

1.8 Has Arrived
Hey BBL 1.8 has arrived and with it a fresh start. Don’t be alarmed the old map is safe and each of you is entitled to some builds to bring over. Build carrying over will occur later on in time, when everything is full updated. The new map will ensure we truly updated and allow some people to experience the game fully again! Enjoy!

It’s that time people. The first ever BuildByLight contest has come to a close. The results were incredible, and it was remarkable the participation and enthusiasm we had about entering. I would like to personally thank all the players who entered, you have shown what it means to come together as a community and build, compete and have fun. For those who didn’t get the chance to enter there will always be next time. But I digress let’s get to the results!

TheFinalRune has proven himself to be an exceptional builder. Demonstrating a unique talent and an ability to go above and beyond the average house. Rune showed our community that a house simply isn’t a box with doors and windows but it can be a brilliant structure of creativity and livability. Congratulations!
2nd Place: MamaMiaHolyMoly
MamaMia has been on this server for quite some time, going back to some of our earliest days. She has proven herself to be an exceptional member in the community, as well as an overall sincerely nice individual. If you ever need some materials chances are she has them and will be more than happy to trade. But, as well as being nice, she sure can build, she has proven herself a worthy contender and someone to look out for in contests to come! Congratulations!

Spirits started off quiet with a little house minding her own business. One day I visited and saw that her little house had blossomed into a full fledged remarkable farm. This farm was complete with a windmill, saw mill, and more crops than I could imagine. She demonstrated that exceptional build talent with her contest entry. She undoubtedly has earned her spot in the top 3. Congratulations!

The Dark Brotherhood
The Dark Brotherhood has taken refuge in our current spawn to my dismay. Their house is destroyed, ravaged by fire and full of secrets. The rumor has it that they run an assassination service, and then deliver the head of the victim to whom they received the request. To my creepy server members who wish to mount heads on their walls in their builds. This may be the house for you to investigate.
